Hi peeps, I have set up a new blog with the aim of creating more interest in bake-offs and other get-togethers. It's a very simple affair, bringing together information from around the forums to share in one place. I'll also be adding some interviews with enthusiasts who have organised and attended bake-offs. I need to add more to the Loans page so please let me know any other manufacturers / dealers who routinely offer this. You can see the blog here: Hi-Fi Society BlogPlease do feel free to comment on articles. I also need you to let me know if I've missed any recent bake-off activity or any upcoming bake-offs. It's bare bones at the moment but I wanted to get it out ahead of MCRU's upcoming bake-off and in plenty of time for the WAM show in March and the AudioJumble in February. Let me know what you think. Many thanks, Paul

Interesting idea, not sure there is enough volume to make it worthwhile but maybe it will generate its own momentum. I see you're getting your balls broken about it already

Nice idea savvy, hope it generates plenty of interest. As Macca says, "getting your balls broken already".

Not getting into any forum politics, but, for balance, RD has been very helpful by loaning equipment to myself and others for bake-offs. And, he has no right of reply here...

I like the idea of this non-political gathering of information about bake offs which will contain a lot of useful information I am sure obviously when the MC are you bake off happens the price of the Keith will be a lot higher lol I did have plans for a bake off between the bigbottle phonostage and an audio detail phonostage. Also upcoming is a DCB1 vs the truth bake off. Obviously once this is written up savvy, you are welcome to add the information to your blog. congratulations and keep up the good work also this might not make a lot of sense because I'm currently off my tits on morphine.

Hardly in the same spirit as that of the amateur audiophile contributing their own equipment to a bake-off. More of an marketing and dealer demo opportunity by proxy.

Makes more sense than lots of my posts. I’ve no interest personally in bake-offs but I think it’s a very good idea to facilitate them in the way you’ve chosen. As Oliver said, take the politics out of them.
Just a “what if” question, but how will you deal with people trying to bring inter forum conflict, personal beefs, perhaps even spamming?

It's the only language these people understand. Well, that, and flouncing, passive aggression, and multi-page emails.

Moderating a blog is a fair bit easier than it is with a forum. Comments on the Hi-Fi Society blog will have to be approved by me before they are displayed. The purpose of the blog is bringing people together. Any comment that is unhelpful to that simply won't be seen, regardless of who it is from.

I dinst realise that I’d naively expected folk to be free to post whatever hey liked. I’d imagined the sort of rows you see on social media comments. It makes what you’re trying to do much easier and also makes it more likely to succeed.
