I picked up a pair of empty Rega EL8 cabinets a little while ago and decided to have a play with them the other day. New terminals were fitted at the rear, the tweeter hole blanked off with a thick acrylic disc and some spare 5" twin cone full range driver bunged in. They actually sound pretty decent, much to my surprise. Clean, with no nasties and enough weight too.

Ever thought about getting Rega parts and restoring those EL8 back to original? Looking at that reminds of human face transplant.

Well if I do that, I just end up with EL8's, which ain't no great shakes. What I've just done with the little twin cone drivers is a temporary rig-up, I have more plans that'll take these a lot further. I intend to radically alter the cabinets and fit other drivers. These, which will fit.

A spare pair of hands so we can keep the forum going if things get a bit busy, away from hifi! It's a nice place here, plenty of subject matter and better still, a neutral ground where people from different forums can converse genially. Hopefully lol
