I had thought i had posted about this on its own but i can not find anything in a search . This years show will be on Sunday from 09.30 - 17.00 . I will have a room number 240 at the show . This for me is always lots of fun and like a great big bake off with lots of very unique systems .
It is always great to meet up with and mix with people who are not puzzled when you mention cable or an external clock . If anyone from here is going please drop in and say hello .
I am now all packed up and ready to go tomorrow so from then the fun will begin .

Some nice stuff there today, some dogshit too mind. Lurch was getting nice sounds out of his vintage Cambridge audio, kef refs and Richards Supratrac arm setup.
I think the room with Alan Clarks 2 ways and project kit sounded the most like home hifi should. The room full of sony was crazy, especially playing some techno.
The big diy jbls were mega, the only full range bass at the show.

Well … just back after a mare of a return journey. What does everyone do round Glossop on a Sunday?
Anyway, very enjoyable day day out.
Great to see Andrew again, and to put to bed the myth that Linn Saras don’t do bass. Wow.
Loved Lurch (John’s) Roon. Staggering how musical it sounded.
I particularly loved the room with all the Linn Klimax gear..really drew you in musically.
Lots of food for thought and much gratitude to those that went to great efforts to demo their kit.
Icing on the cake for me was whilst I was browsing records before heading home and a voice said ‘bloody hell.. Steve’
It was Mike who was running half the record stall. Known him for 35 years, (he owns The Land of Grey and Pink in Chester) but not seen him for ages. Wonderful to catch up.

Managed to spend some time in John's (Lurch) room and Andrew's (Bencat) room. Both producing great, musical sounds. Certainly had my foot tapping in both rooms - great job! Never been to a WAM show, so was a real eye opener - super interesting to see and hear real enthusiasts systems. There was certainly an eclectic range of styles and sound signatures. Some was very musical and did a lot 'right' IMHO. Some stuff was not for me at all, but each to own. What really shone through was an incredible passion for music and putting together great hifi for oneself. People had really gone their own way and the time and commitment to create their ideal system really shone through. If I'm honest, a lot wasn't for me, but that's not what it's about. My system, sound preference and music taste certainly isn't for everyone either. A great event - really genuine and great supportive atmosphere. |

Really enjoyed the show and agree with Jason above. Sorry BenCat for chatting to Jason in your room while you were playing your choons - a bit rude  loved the musical nature of the kit though. Some great kit and the Sony room I thought was the highlight for me - so kitch but good fun. Got in the car to go home and the tyre was flat so the 30 minute drive home took a bit longer (no spare so had to use the electric pump and 'goo' they have in the boot which allowed the inflation of the tyre but it was going down during the drive home - limited to 50mph) |
