The Rey Audio RM7V. I have had the good fortune to hear these in action at Bop Studios. The best sound I have ever heard and all that have heard them agree. Bop Studios. RM7's Kinoshita Monitors. Horn speakers at its best! Kinoshita monitors by Rey Audio installed at BOP Rec

Altec A7 studio speakers. Altec model 19's Never heard a big Altec but I have heard clones of the Voice of the Theater. Very very impressive. The bloke has a tube sub built into the wall, Played Pipe organ on the set up boy what an experience.

This why Yanks & Limeys have totally different views on Hi-Fi No they do not they just have more space, and live further apart and can crank it. In general I much prefer yank kit, but to say one is better than another is absolute bollocks. Just cause you prefer one does not mean you are right, sick of this I know everything, you no nothing, I have heard it all, therefore I am right you are wrong crap. It all boils down to personal preference. And those preferences have got bogger all to do with any smart ass who takes himself seriously on a forum. My ears are mine not yours, and visa versa, they both tell us different things, plain and simple. I do not particularly like SET amps for example, yet most audiophiles will shoot me for saying that. My ears get it!

My ears get it! Its because of the Big space they have that we dont, im referring to.. Their amps & speakers seem to be differently voiced to ours.. How many Brits do you know that got the room to drive a massive pair of Horns the size of Sheffield to high volumes with a 2watt SET? No wer just play at it..

The bigger the house, the more Rooms, bit the size of the Rooms are still as small as a smaller house.. New Open plan houses have bigger rooms but still not big.. Besides less people into Hi-Fi than you think..

For me, the trouble with horns is that render everything with a similar sense of scale, perfect for a large orchestra, or a live band, not so great with smaller stuff.

Full range horns can do that but not the horn loading you get in speakers like JBL where only the mid and top are horn loaded - or 'waveguided' or whatever.
And some full range horns like the Avantaguards can sound like you are listening to a transistor radio when you play a compressed rock recording through them. The exact opposite of scale.
I had some Lowther Acoustas for a short while. Not for me at all.

Single driver rear loaded horns no thanks to limited in the type of music they can play.
Avantguard, no thanks they tear my ears off. Martion Bull Frogs no, same thing, Unison Research Max 1, using the same tatrix horn and compression driver as my Cornscalas, no thank you, they shout at you like an angry wife. Klipsch, Heresy, Cornwall, Forte, Klipschorn, La Scala, KG 4, Zingali Zero, Zingali 20 Evo 1.2, yes. JBL have not heard any apart from the JBL Array's and all those I liked very much.
Altech-Lansing Voice Of The Theater clones, this set up blew my socks of. Big room though.
Prefer the little Klipsch R 14-m's to the Wharfedale 10.1's in my bedroom. Are they better, that is room dependant, the bass was just to bloated with the 10.1's it drove me daft.

Altech-Lansing Voice Of The Theater clones. Would love a pair, no space in the house.

I have found the proper front horns can play anything well but most of the DIY horns are too polite, but that is probably the owners preference

Only exception to that was Speedy Steve's system which I think was/is five or six way and pretty much no-compromise. Although I've not heard the Western Electric jobs which seem to impress absolutely everyone. Not keen on how the bass sounds. Okay I know PA systems at gigs use horn loaded bass but that's different as you're at the gig. As far as I know nobody ever mixed or mastered using speakers with bass horns. Horn bass just doesn't sound right to me. Same with open baffle bass.

Don't know what to expect as only heard them recorded from a show setting into headphones. My listening room has Lii audio crystal 10 in tqwt with a Bakoon amp. Now when I had open baffle well open backed box bass I thought they were the most natural sounding bass I had heard but the crystal 10 are way better. Hope the field coils are as good, if not it doesn't matter as very happy with what I have and the field coils are just something I've wanted to try.

Klipschorns (I had for 17 years) had a life sized sound. I had corners-essential - plus, for the last 7 years, a 24 X 20 foot room. Only sold, and often missed, because new house had bad corners (windows, doorways etc..) Still hanker after a Volti upgraded set I know of.......

brain fade......... Still miss them. but my current space is too small (16 x 10 feet; waiting as I type for Lecontoure Stabile 210 speakers to go in it (Give you something to look up!) Too old now to live in a, or get, a Barn. should have snaffled a warehouse 25 years ago.

I'm sure they do everything right but something juvenile inside me thinks if I'm spending that much on a speaker . . . . it shouldn't look like a speaker, it should like a ruddy spaceship from the 70's, or a weird ancient instrument of torture/Soviet foghorn.
