The SR60e are my second favourite headphone. If I'm not in the mood for HD600 I like to give the 60's a listen.
These have 90% of the Grado sound, making it very good value and always sells like hot cakes.
IMO the entry level Grado stuff are great.

I use doughnut ear ups on all my Grados and this seems to make a bigger difference than anything,

I was a late convert to Grado's and didn't find the smaller models in stock form that comfortable. My subsequent use of the lively HD25SP's has changed all that and I'm a fan of the Grados up to £300 or so, especially with others finding the ear-cup makes all the difference in the models (maybe a bit of fine selection goes on, but who knows). I just find the bigger Sennheisers are boring in their so-called neutrality, but maybe my headphone sockets weren't up to it - not an issue now as they're driven straight from the speaker terminals with no output attenuation (the D-60 is quiet enough and gain can be adjusted on the front panel).

Cheapo Grados in stock form are torture to wear, Also degraded possibly deliberately by those awful pads.Chnage the pads and the cable and I bet you’re 95% of the way towards the best Grado can do. I keep planning to change the cable on mine but I’m so lazy it never happens

I haven’t heard any PS Grados, but I have heard GS1000e and thought them no better than Rs2e....worse in some respects. To me, the Grados are just the same speaker in a slightly woodier or blingier enclosure, adorned with different pads and word with better cable. I get there’s no more than £20 a pair manufactirungbcost between SR60s and the most expensive Grado. I’d happily go so far as to hang the tag “rip off” on the more expensive Grados. Given that I have found the other headphones I’ve heard to be inferior to Grados, they would also get the same tag with bells on. Expensive headphones are just hifi jewellery to me, I’m afraid.

Have you ever held any of the SR325 models? Must admit the metal cups on them feel nice. S.

Those will certainly change the sound. Will always stick to plain stock, as I like the original voiced sound. S.

I have read how it’s essential to buy the real Grado ones at inflated proves because the Chinese knockoffs sound awful. I’ve compared them and found zero difference. I will try and find the exact ones I bought and post a link.
