Interesting review from Elite Audio on the new Eversolo power amps. Combining these with an Eversolo streamer/dac makes for a convincing argument on building a low cost/ high quality system.
The Streamer/DAC (DMP A8) looks (and is subjectively reviewed) to be a really good product. There are some reservations about this amp however. It's performance with an average 8ohm speaker is worse than some cheaper equivalents for instance. Those Stark modules inside are not well liked either.
I haven't actually heard one so this is only going by information on them, but it doesn't look like anything has 'evolved' here unfortunately, in fact it's a rebadged amp from the get-go I believe.
Haha, sorry . . didn't mean to come across as a kill-joy attempt know-it-all . . . . but your post inspired me to look it up as it looks new and exciting, but I was fairly disappointed by what I read about it.
Unfortunately the ebay 'reviews' seem regurgitated in regards to the now expected 'everything is awesome' (link to purchase in the description) approach.
Hey, it might be great to actually listen to, like I say I have no idea but on paper it doesn't seem like much to get excited about . . . . which is a shame as they do have some excellent products.

S’ok. I get your perspective. I’m looking at it from the view that I was completely underwhelmed by the Nord mono’s I had. So wasn’t expecting much difference when the Purify came along. There was a lesson in pre-judging something! It was mind blowing with Jason’s speakers.. and room.

You'll get no argument from me regarding the purifi/Vader (CNO4) combo . . . . Never heard anything like it or even close for that matter.
I can see your logic and thinking path on this now but I would suggest that a Purifi, the Eversolo, is not. But like I say, I could be wrong and it certainly does look a neat and tidy package.
Coincidentally I've got a purifi amp sitting right in front of me on my desk at work right now . . . and a pair of Vaders at home waiting for it luckily
Well… I would say that this does represent an evolution of class D, particularly as reviewed by a company I actually trust and someone who has actually heard the thing. In the same way that Lyngdorf have taken purify to multi channel levels and a far higher market price point, these are all evolutionary of a particular technology that is obviously gaining traction.
power figures are quoted at 1% distortion so it's not got the watts they claim it has.
I'd wait for some independent measurements before saying it's a bargain.
£800 get you a 1980s or 1990s power amp on the s.h market with the same power or more which will look much classier, have better build quality and level meters if you want them.
That's the trouble with these class Ds, almost all of them are just modules in a cheap plain case. No fun whatsoever to own even if they sound fine.

Suddenly boutique network cables, switches and usb cables are a thing you're into because, well what else is there except listening to music?''

lol. Get to Jason’s. Then come back and repeat that.

You're not buying anything for £800 with even close performance levels of a Purifi, unless it's a Sansui AU-D11 MKII, and even then, that's not really in the ball ballpark for distortion measurements, and rising distortion at power delivery levels.
I do agree that a lot of these class D amps are very boring on the eye and certainly in the case of VTV look like they've been put together by a chimp.
I'm still not convinced class D is the way forward in my system because of the room...but I have a top Purifi build in the making and some very well designed speakers on the way, which will both be given all the best chances of working together.
My hopes are that they will. If they don't....I'll buy a Sansui 😉

why would I need to do that - I know what it looks like?
Class D with good performance has been around since the 1970s the only thing that has really evolved is the marketing of them.
My problem with that Eversolo - aside from the sheer blandness of the looks - is the misleading power figures, they should be quoting at 0.1 THD not 1 percent. 0.1 has been the benchmark for fidelity since the late 1950s.

My power amp is hidden away in a hole under a window seat, and I mostly listen in the dark! Power amp looks don't really bother me.
I may ask my (4 yr old) daughter to draw a puppy or something to put in front of it.

There are some very serious complete class 'd' hardware available now which has been taken up by a large semiconductor company and ity will be affordable for the masses and produce decent sound quality. It contains 8 adc's and sample rates of 768Khz, and discrete soft drive technology with a switch post filter feedback technology. It has good potential have been playing with some for a whole now and its a quality step up on the current crop of usual suspects. us significant flexibility in a broad spectrum of projects. More on the horizon as well.

There's plenty of older amps with superb measured performance other than Sansui - anything from the top of the range of the big Japanese companies for example.
No-one can hear the difference between 0.1% THD and 0.001% so that's really irrelevant in the real world. Obviously you want noise as low as possible but that box is checked too.
Over the years the problems I've had with amplifiers have been not enough watts, not enough current, and actual faults.
Occasionally gain staging, impedance matching and ground loops have been issues. Audible noise or distortion, except for clipping ofc, never once been an issue.

That's the difference between us. I like to have the kit on display and looking good.
Don't get me wrong, it's not a deal-breaker but the looks do matter to me. I won't buy anything I don't like the look of regardless of how much of a bargain it is.

That's fair enough and completely understandable. I certainly like my speakers to look good too! Spent a while sorting the Turntable too... Perhaps I'll have a sexy power amp one day!
I've tried/heard class D quite a few times in the past and it's always been underwhelming for me. Heard them on Ektas a few times and they've always sounded a bit thin and lacking body.
I am, quite surprisingly, using class D at the moment. The last amp I thought I'd be using for the upper enclosures of my speakers! The power amp is basically doing 100Hz and above and I have always been drawn to a slightly richer and fuller sound. Arguably, my sound preference may not be 100% neutral - I'd rather err on the side of warmth than any dryness or brightness. The problem with any slightly warmer presentations is there is a trade off - transparency. Weirdly, class D is giving me exactly what I want right now. I am keeping an open mind, so will certainly change when/if something better comes along.
Recent events have shown that we are mostly listening to our room! It sounds obvious, but has been laid out extremely clearly lately. Essentially, the same (or virtually the same) amps are sounding completely different in different rooms (even on similar systems). It's too long a story for now, but I'm sure optical , @bigman80 and I will elaborate more in due course. One amp can sound perfect in one room and shocking in another and that's the same speakers! The moral of this story is always try at home and never try to second guess how something will sound.
It's always the room, decent source, pre and powers are ten a penny these day. Getting good integration with your speakers or having speakers that take the worst of a room out of the equation are where it's at.
