What do I need to consider when getting armoured cable? Our garden is having some work done and it makes sense to lay some underground armoured cable. Will only need to have lighting. Probably 4 lights (one near a small pond). Ideally being able to switch them individually - or perhaps 2 at a time. So I guess I will need a multi-core cable. cheers

Where does the cable go to? A shed/garage/AC outlet? Will there be a consumer unit? What about future use, will it need to carry more current at some point?

The garden people will lay the cable and simply loop it at the relevant points. Later on, as part of some house works, the sparky will connect it all up. Will have sufficient to route the cable to the consumer unit. Edit: Oli you seem to have added more whilst I was responding. Cable will go the CU and have it own breaker. Not envisioned to have a shed etc. May wish to have an external power point (for example for lawnmower) so I guess I need to cater for higher current.

Will have sufficient to route the cable to the consumer unit. In that case, chat to the sparky you are going to use. Some of them will not use cable they haven't sourced. Sounds daft, but I've seen that happen.
