More IMF XO tweaking These IMF's continue to surprise me. I did a little more checking a few days ago and found the only resistor on the XO to have drifted >10% tolerance so I bought a couple of 1% tolerance Jantzen and installed them (big green jobbies).
I also measured speaker the speaker units and found both tweeters measuring in at 6 ohms whist the bass units both at 7 ohms, both +/1 0.1/2 Ohm so good driver matching from IMF and no need for me to replace the tweeters which I thought might be suspect. Overall now very happy with the IMF's they will now be a permanent part of the collection.

This evening has been spent getting the mono system back up and running and then listening to loads of charity shops purchases whilst wondering at the quality of stuff that's available for a couple of quid on vinyl. Never really been In to mono.... Yes, charity shop finds are now on my radar seeing as I can clean them properly. |

Drive units dont drift in impedance, ferro fluid tweeyers might get sticky and alnico magnets might degaus with age and temp, but there's nothing to change the coil impedance short of going open circuit.

The listening room @ Rexton Chateaux is in dis-array, BIG TIME! 2000+ albums sitting on the floor, amps, speakers, and cartridges spread over 3 bedrooms. Tomorrow marks a big change in that I'll have a delivery of birchply and I can start making some new shelving and hopefully a slightly improved layout, with a little more space. I'll be optimising things further over the next few weeks with new speaker stands and Townshend speaker bars. New monoblocks as well, but that's another story and the near ending of a 4 year wait.

Well the Seismic thingy has arrived but I can't use it due to me re-doing my listening room. I decided to have a complete re-think of my space. Some stuffs gome, some stuff's be re-organised. Hopefully things should sound better.

Well today has been a long time coming. The listening room is 95% finished, just a blind to install, a rug to plonk on the floor, and maybe an eames chair replica (depending upon dimensions). The Paradise has been repaired and improved. I have the Townshend seismic podium as well to check out. So, tomorrow, every should be setup to make sure it's working and then some vinyl replay. FINALLY!
