I ask cos it seems a hair fast. Must be the conversion from phone video to YouTube timecode as I know your deck is spot on. Yep I would agree. I do have another pressing and your observation could be correct. TBH I'm not bothered it's a lovely recording and really shows what can be done with vinyl.

My next little advengture is nearing completion. I have a Goldring G88 which I have nearly finished and this will be powered with a Pheonix Tachometer + PSU. I just need a plinth and we are away! This will be TT No. 5 sitting my listening room.

The Waiting Game.....
It's a funny old game this HiFi lark. I'm awaiting several packages and indeed have been sending several packages off. I'm awaiting my Reko-Kut III equalizer which promises amazing MONO playback, we shall see. It's now in the UK having a holiday in some sorting office. Mr. Firebottle has been hard repairing some kit, I'm currently getting rid of some bits and pieces and ever so slightly (tongue in cheek) thinning down the collection. My Radford Pre is currently on it's way to Alan to fix a channel loss, maybe even get some upgrades, we shall see. I have a Garrard 301 to service, that's coming from Manchester! And now to top things off, I've just recieved a PM tempting me with a 300B valve amp. Finally, I have a lovely MONO recording of the Shirley Bassey album "Shirley" to listen to, bought for the princely sum of 50p from a market stall (yep they still exist).
next....

Things are arriving slowly. I have a newly modded PSU for the 301 to try out. My re-equaliser III reko-cut has finally landed from the USA, just got to pay £68 for customs and delivery. The Radford Pre is still a WIP, no sure what I'm going to do with this, Alan thinks it's pretty good as it is, decisions, decisions. My G88 TT project has been on hold for a while whilst my 301 PSU has been repaired, now I have no excuse so I need to get this finished. It's all good at the moment.

Tonight... I decided to give some love to my under used IMF SuperCompact II speakers. Excellent speakers, using the SPC Triple C speaker cable. Sounding good through Valves.

Tonight is the third night running listening to MONO stuff. Tonight it's Revolver by The Beatles. I'll probably end up going through 2000 records and creating a MONO section in the Library room.

And the quest for the ultimate 6SL7 continues. I've ordered some Hitachi 6SL7's from the USA as an experiment and also bidding on some 1960's Fivre 6SL7's but these are from Italy. I've tried 12 differing 6SL7'S over the years. Here's a quick list with mark out of 10.
1. RCA 5691 (Red Base) 9.75/10 2. Bendix 5691 (Red Base) 9.75/10 3. Tung Sol 6S7GT (Black Bottle) 9.6/10 4. RCA 6SL7GT (Coin base" 9.6/10 5. Tung Sol 6SL7GT (Orange base) 9.5/10 6. Mullard 6SL7GT (Black base) 9.25/10 7. Ken Rad 6SL7GT (Black Base) VT229 9.25/10 8. Tung Sol 6SL7GT VT229 (Black bottle) 9.1/10 9. General Electric GSL7GT (Black base 1970's) 8.75 / 10 10. Slyvania 6SL7GT black base 7/10 11. Brimar 6SL7GT (black base) 6.25/10 12. Reflektor black base 70's version 5/10

The Garrard 301 has recieved a nice upgrade in the form of a Townshend Seismic Platform - I managed to bag a size 3 20kg rated platform for my 301 a reasonable price, it sounds very nice, just need to fine tune the levelling (which is nearly perfect) and we are away! Also bagged x4 Genelex Gold Lion kt88's for the Sondex amp before these become unobtainable eeekk...

Reflektor black base 70's version 5/10 I massively rate the RCA coin base too. Best NOS I've tried, so much so when I've seen them I've bought 4 perfectly matched and 120% of NOS value pairs since from a very trusted seller. Won't be needing any more hopefully.

Funnily enough I have my coinbase sitting in my Croft Pre, I'm just in the process of upgrading and tweaking again. I'll probably end up with 5 RCA 5691's throughout the Croft. I'd quite happily live with coinbase but I'm like a crack addict when it comes to 5691's I love them!

Another night, another update.
Here is a small video showing the Garrard 301 sitting on it's latest upgrade. The Townshend seismic sink, it replaces a bamboo chopping board that had lived under the 301 for several years. The "sink" is my way of trying to prevent vibration getting into the Garrard. It's certainly helped things along, the soundstage has a greater sense of "ease", it just breathes when it plays. You may disagree when you here this video as this is a new pre-amp combo that I've installed.
Miles Davis is playing away very nicely, I have my old Radford Pre sitting in their at the moment, the Croft is having a rest. Alan (Firebottle), modded the Radford and sorted out a few problems as well. Things are still not perfect but on there way. I have the Mullard M8137 valves installed at the moment, six in total, I have no idea how much they cost now, I've had them for a very long time. Detail is amazing, not as relaxed as the Croft using RCA 5691 valves but still it sounds very good.
Above is an Image showing the current valve setup including the Rek-O-Kut III, I think this is an amazing piece of kit and I really do need to experiment more with MONO and DECCA carts with this.

It's a Pheonix Engineering PSU and tachometer system. The 301 is powered by a 16W PSU version, which is probably the minimal that a 301 will want to "see". The PSU re-generates ouput into something clean and less distorted for the motor. I've configured this one to supply the 301 with 220V in a bid to minimise motor vibration. The tachometer is battery powred to save space on cabling and feeds info to the PSU to keep the 301 within 0.01rpm pf 33.33 altough this does fluctuate, but the platter always spins at 45.00 or 33.33 rpm give or take a few hundred's of a rpm.

I now own a 300b amplifier! Well done, Andrew. I believe it's a very capable and over spec amplifier for the cost. Brilliant result.

Thanks, I'm not really sure what the specs are, Chris gave me the back story to the amp (thanks)! It sounds very good, more detail to some extent than my KT88 sondex 100 jobbie. I've bought it to experiment, so should have some fun.

It's been over an hour now. What's it sound like? I've had the amp for roughly a week. 300b are great for midband clarity, this does it very well indeed. Still difficult to call an overall winner betwen the Sondex S100 and this one.

And now Miyajima is going back to seller due to false warranty claims. You win some/lose some in this game.
