Should Boris apologise ?

Yup the Gurks are okay with me.

I get sick of hearing people preaching “tolerance” and “multiculturalism”.

Tolerance of the intolerant doesn’t work. It only allows them to practise that intolerance. Any religion that encourages their devotees to kill people who don’t agree, should not be tolerated.

Multiculturalism is also a deeply flawed concept. It assumes one way of living is as good as another. It isn’t. That’s why civilisation in the West has moved away from repressing women and denying them education, from digging holes in the sand and wiping your arse with your bare hand, and from barbarically slaughtering animals. Also multiculturalism relies on tolerance of each other’s beliefs. You don’t exactly get that with Islam, so we are back to the tolerance argument. If many Muslims had their way, they would inflict Sharia law on all of us. How is that multicultural?

Besides, when you are in Britain, one way of life should automatically be preferred. The British way of life.

Yep, I agree too. Anyone who puts in more than they take out and looks set to do so going forward is OK with me: As long as they don’t try to inflict their cultural norms over British ones and don’t expect to tell British people how to live.

Two main issues for me: Islam and Immigration.

The former needs to be managed much more strictly. I have known many Muslims who are about as devout as I am in my adherence to Christianity. I have no issue whatsoever with them. It’s just what they were born into and most have rejected the stuff written in the dark ages which has outgrown it’s usefulness because society has moved on. It’s the ones who take it literally and unfortunately there’s are way too many of them. It’s a complex issue to deal with.

The latter is easier. Repeal the European Convention on Human Rights (it was only ratified by Blair, so we managed just fine before that). Then introduce new migrant worker rules. You come here and get no benefits. You pay your way and pay your taxes. No NHS either. If you become a burden, you take that burden back to your own country. You have children, they remain citizens of your home country and you pay for their education. Maybe after 10 years, migrant workers could apply for citizenship, but they would have to demonstrate a likelihood of continuing to be net contributors.

As for Asylum? Leave that to other countries. We have done enough and it is time for others to do more.

I do t understand how Britain gives so much to migrants. In Cyprus you get nothing without residency. No medical care, no free education and no benefits, you have to take out fully comprehensive private medical insurance beforehand you can even apply for residency. You also have to demonstrate sufficient funds or income to take care of yourself indefinitely. That’s in an EU country. That’s the thing though, most EU countries choose which rules to follow, like a pick and mix.

I see there are ten injured after a shooting incident in Manchester's Moss Side at a Caribbean Carnival. I wonder if it was some sort of tribute to British immigration policy.

The language would seem a barrier, as would the climate and the number of countries immigrants have to pass through. There’s also the high cost of living. Worth it if you’re going to work hard, I suppose. I’ve been no issue with grafters, home grown or imported. I do have issues with spongers, irrespective of whether they were born in Briatain or not.

Well, up to a point. But Dave Allen could 'get away' with taking the piss out of Catholicism because he was (or had been) a Catholic. If he'd been a Prod, I imagine the reaction would have been different (see also Father Ted, written by and starring Irish Catholics). Are there Muslim comedians taking the piss out of Islam? There's Citizen Khan, but from what I've seen of it, it's basically an old-fashioned sitcom in the vein of Some Mothers Do 'Ave 'Em, with Muslim characters, rather than a critique of Islam. The same is true of Judaism; Jewish comedians can and do take the piss out of 'their' religion, but non-Jews criticising Judaism might be seen as anti-Semitic.

I guess my point is that comedy is better done 'from the inside'. English people writing comedy about Scottish people wouldn't work; they'd be reduced to the usual cliches about kilts, meanness and porridge, whereas the likes of Rab C Nesbitt can be slightly more subtle.

No Boris should not apologise. I believe you can think what you like and if somebody takes offence if you express it, boo hoo. but it is a double edged sword, saying what you like on a public platform, if it contains hate or can cause harm by invoking violence is another matter, like that bloody piece of Skunk Poo Tommy Robinson does, this type of thing I cannot approve of.

That being said; Boris only said it to stir it up, he is a nasty, crafty, untrustworthy, manipulative opportunist, he is the true example of a cynical politician.
He will bend with the wind to get what he wants. Somebody once remarked, getting the truth out of this man or trusting him is like trying to nail Jelly to a wall.

He is a con man along with that Orange foolish, unstable, tempestuous 8 year Child in the White House, Trump.  They will use Religion equally a cynically as the Islamist do.  look at that Vice President Pence, a nasty piece of work if ever there was one, he will start a war for his distorted Evangelical take on Christianity.

I do not like what is happening in the world, and these bleeding heart, shout it from the roof top liberals make me puke. I abhor opportunistic populist politicians who appeal to the very worst examples, of bigoted, down right ignorant, radical, and racist members of our societies, and you do not have to have a white skin to be fascist, radical, racist or one that thinks like on of them.

Where is the middle road, divide society and we will all pay the price. To hell with politicians like Trump, Johnson, that prize tit Farage, Mugabe and all his ilk in the rest of Africa, That waste of skin Muduro, Putin, that POS Ortega, Xi Jinping etc. etc. Autocrats or wannabee autocrats the lot of them.


Oh yes and the Israeli P.M.  Netanyahu and his Orthodox Jewish scum of supporters, and his opposition across the wall and fence, the Ismalists and Hamas, all are equally to blame for stiring up hatred and decent.
